Creation and Execution of Manual Test Run

As we have learned in the Creating and Executing automated test run article, Opkey’s QLM Test run dashboard shows the total number of test executions with their status. You can also execute single or multiple test cases and test suites in the Test Run section

In this article, we will learn how to create a Manual Test Run in a few simple steps. Later, we will also learn how to execute a manual test run. Let's begin.

1. Navigate to QLM and select Test Run from the given options.

2. Click Create Test Run, and select Create Manual Run.

3. A Create Manual Run form appears on the right panel. Enter the run name, select the milestone for which you want to create this manual run, and choose if you want to execute test cases or test suites.

4. You can also use the Create New & Link icon to create a new manual test case and link it to this test run.

5. You can also apply filters to the list of test cases shown on the Create Manual Run page by clicking the filter icon.

6. Once done, click the Create Run button at the bottom.

7. Your manual run is ready displaying a pop-up message. Click the Open Test Run button in the pop-up.

8. Here you can change the status of the Manual Run by clicking on the dropdown.

9. Click at the top-right corner to expand the charts showing the summary of the test run, total test cases executed, and total test cases assigned to you. You can toggle the ‘View Details’ button on the right below the chart to view the step details.

10.
To activate the manual test runner, click the run icon on the right of the test steps. A window opens with a short demo of how to use the Manual Execution Wizard to start the Manual Test Run.

11. Click the Opkey Browser Extension at the top of the browser window to open the Manual Execution Wizard. If you are executing the test run for the first time, click the Add Extension button and follow the instructions to add the Opkey Browser extension.

12. In the Manual Execution Wizard, you can add comments, view details, and attach videos or images to the test steps to keep a record of step execution for reviewers' reference.

13. Before finishing the execution of the test run, if you want to log a ticket with respect to the test case for any issue,  you can click on the + icon and click Create Ticket. You can also create a user story or capture a video of execution by clicking Create User Story or Capture Video.

14. You can update the step status by clicking the designated button on the selected step. The available options to update the status are: Pass, Incomplete, NotExecuted, SkippedOver, and Fail.

15. After updating the status of the steps, click the Finish button at the top to complete the execution.

16. After clicking the Finish button, a message will appear indicating successful execution. Click Yes on this window.

17. Finally, you can see the status of execution on the test run page.
