Data Management for ERPs

Opkey's Data Management features enables us to generate or replace data (configurational or manual) for all selected test cases for an ERP instance. This eliminates the hassle of opening each test case separately and changing its data in case of any update.

You can start by accessing the App Settings from the profile menu.

Open the Data Management section from the options.

Here, we have to select the test cases where we want to update data. We can select them from the folders in the left panel. For example, here we have selected 5 test cases from Oracle Fusion folder.

After selecting the test cases, we can choose to either replace or generate their manual test data (data such as invoice date, duration, etc. that we need to fill manually) or configurational data (configuration related data fetched by test discovery that needs to be updated after a new Oracle update. For example, supplier name, business unit name, etc. ).

Let's replace the manual data for these test cases. Click the Generate Manual Data Button

On the next page, we get the option to create a new data repository for the selected test cases or replace data in the existing repository. We can select either of the two options as per our requirement. Here, we are proceeding with replacing existing data in the repository.

Next, we need to select our test instance or environment from the dropdown. We can also use the + button to add a new instance. After this, we select process and click Next.

Note: If your application is hosted in private instance, you can click the checkbox to initiate Client Utility.

On the next page, we will get the option the change values in the repository of the test cases. We can add new values in the respective columns and click generate to update the repository with new values.

Let us see examples of Manual Data generation.

Manual Data Generation

Although the Discovery snapshot automatically populates most data into the LDRs, some data must be manually entered before execution. The details of the input parameters that must be filled in manually are provided below under their respective processes.

This Manual data generation can be used to update the manual data in the selected test cases in one go from a single screen without going to individual cases.

Steps to Update the data

Navigate to the Profile menu and select App Settings.

Select Data Management from the options.

Click on Generate Manual Data. Select the Repository Type, Instance, and Process. Click Next.

Insert the data with the field names.

Click on Generate and the values will be inserted in the input parameters.

For example, you can add the manual data for the below processes.

The process to generate configurational data is similar.

After selecting the test case, click the Generate Configurational Data button.

On the Generate Configurational Data page, you can select the similar options as we did previously for the manual data generation.

Once we click generate, the mining process will start to generate new configuration data. After it is finished, the configuration data in the selected test cases will be updated.
