Test Execution Issues related to plugins

Issues: Test execution failure due to plugin related issues

Type 1: Plugin Crash Issue

Summary: The Opkey Plugin crashes during test execution, causing the test to terminate unexpectedly.

Solution:

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that the plugin version is compatible with the current version of Opkey.

  • Reinstall Plugin: Uninstall and reinstall the Opkey Plugin to resolve any potential corruption issues.

  • Review Logs: Analyze the crash logs for specific error messages that can indicate the root cause.

  • Update Dependencies: Verify that all required software dependencies (e.g., .NET Framework, Java) are up-to-date.

  • Contact Support: If the issue persists, contact Opkey support with the log files for further assistance.

Type 2: Unable to Capture Screenshot Issue

Summary: The plugin fails to capture screenshots during test execution.

Solution:

  • Permission Check: Ensure that the plugin has the necessary permissions to access the file system for saving screenshots.

  • Update Plugin: Ensure that the plugin is updated to the latest version, as previous versions might have bugs affecting screenshot capture.

  • Retry After Fixes: Retry the test execution after applying these fixes to confirm that screenshots are being captured.

Type 3: Wrong Plugin Selected Issue

Summary: An incorrect plugin is selected for test execution, leading to failures or incorrect results. For example, Salesforce plugin is selected for Oracle Fusion test case.

Solution:

  • Verify Plugin Selection: The plugin for the respective ERP is auto-selected, however the plugin can be changed from the plugin setting dropdown. Double-check to confirm that the correct plugin is selected and it hasn't been changed by any team member or you before starting the test execution.

  • Plugin Naming Convention: If you're using keywords that require plugin names as input for test execution, make sure to enter the correct plugin name with the right capitalization to avoid errors. For example, when using the SetGenericPlugin keyword, which switches the plugin based on the provided input, an incorrect plugin name will cause the switch to fail and result in an error.

Type 4: Plugin Not Loaded Issue

Summary: The Opkey Plugin fails to load after starting a test execution, causing the test to fail.

Solution:

  • Check Installation: Confirm that the plugin is properly installed and registered in the system.

  • Restart Opkey: Restart the Opkey application to clear any temporary loading issues.

  • System Resources: Ensure that there are sufficient system resources (memory, CPU) available for loading the plugin.

  • Reinstall Plugin: If the issue persists, try reinstalling the plugin.

Type 5: Screenshot Blank Issue

Summary: Screenshots captured during test execution are blank, providing no visual evidence of test results.

Solution:

  • Screen Resolution: Adjust the screen resolution or scaling settings, as certain settings can result in blank screenshots.

  • Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that the graphics drivers are up-to-date, as outdated drivers can cause rendering issues.

  • Test on Different Environment: Try executing the test on a different machine or environment to rule out machine-specific issues.

  • Contact Support: If the problem continues, contact Opkey support with the details of the issue for advanced troubleshooting.
