Test execution issue due to Google chrome driver incompatibility

Issue

Chrome browser execution issue due to driver incompatibility/browser not launching during execution due to incompatibility of driver or Chrome getting launched but no activity is being performed and the browser gets closed

Solution:

For executions to run uninterrupted, ensure the Chrome driver is updated on your agent and the system.

Follow the steps given below to update your execution agent with the latest Chrome driver.

1. To start the process, install the latest Chrome driver for Windows from Here.

This has to be done manually every-time whenever there is an update in the new Chrome driver version.

Copy the link for the version you want to download. Select the Windows version as per your system requirement.

Note: Mac users execute their test cases via Spock Agent which doesn't require driver update. Hence, this process not required for Mac.

2. Paste the link in the new tab and press Enter. The driver gets downloaded.

3. Click the Extract button and extract the downloaded zipped file of driver.

4. Extract the file at the desired location.

5. Double click on the downloaded file to check its version. Ensure that it matches with the version of your Chrome browser. Once your have matched the browser version, copy the downloaded file.

6. Now press Window + R key on your keyboard or search %Temp% in the Search bar of your screen to open the temp folder on your device.

7. Next, open the Local folder from the top.

8. Next, go to
Drivers folder following the path given below.

Local\CresTech\OpKey\AgentData\Drivers.

Paste the downloaded Chrome Driver in this folder.

Go to Drivers in Agent Data of your C drive. For example, the path

C:\Users\FAREHA~1.NOU\AppData\Local\CresTech\OpKey\AgentData\Drivers and paste the file.

We have added the downloaded Chrome Driver here.

9. You can view the driver version by clicking the exe file.

10. Following the above steps will make sure you have an updated Chrome driver to execute your test cases smoothly.

You can also add the latest driver to the Opkey Execution agent as well, but it is not mandatory once it has been added to the C drive.

Let's see how it can be done.

1. Go to your Opkey Execution Agent and click on the Plugin Settings under the Tools menu.

2. Go to the Web Version and scroll down to look for the Chrome Driver path.

3. Click on the Value tab space and upload the latest downloaded Chrome Driver. Make sure the downloaded file is in .exe format.

4. Click on the Save All button.

5. The updates get saved and a message is displayed.

6. You should follow this process, and keep these drivers updated whenever a new Chrome driver version gets released.
