Test execution issues due to Microsoft Edge driver incompatibility

Issue :

Issues in test case execution on Edge browser due to driver incompatibility.

Edge browser is getting launched while test execution but no activity is being performed and then the browser gets closed.

Solution:

If you are facing an issue related to the driver while executing a test case on the Edge browser, check the guidelines given below:

To run your test executions in Opkey, ensure your Execution Agent is online. For executions to run uninterrupted, ensure the Edge Driver is updated on your agent and the system.

Follow the steps below to update your execution agent with the latest Edge Driver.

1. Install the latest Edge Driver for windows from here.

Click the link for the version you want to download. Select Windows as per your requirement. Here we are updating for Windows v64. Click on the downloaded file to open it with a tool to open zipped files.

Note: Mac users execute their test cases via Spock Agent. Hence, the driver update is not required for Mac.

2. Click the Extract All button and extract the downloaded file in a custom location on your device. Here, we are installing it in the C: drive.

3. Copy the downloaded Edge Driver file from its folder on your device.

4. Now press Window + R key on your keyboard or search %Temp% in the Search bar of your screen to open the temp folder on your device.

5. Next, open the Local folder from the top.

6. Next, go to
Drivers folder following the path given below:
Local\CresTech\OpKey\AgentData\Drivers

Paste the downloaded Edge Driver in this folder.

7. You can view the driver version by clicking the .exe file of driver.

Following the above steps will make sure you have an updated Edge Driver to execute your test cases smoothly.

You can also add the latest driver to th Opkey Execution agent as well, but it is not mandatory once it has been added to the C: drive.

Let's see how it can be done.

1. Go to your Opkey Execution Agent and click on the Plugin Settings under the Tools menu.

2. Go to the Web Version and scroll down to look for the Edge Driver path.

3. Click on the Value field and upload the downloaded .exe format file of Edge Driver file.

4. Click on the Save All button.

5. Your driver will be updated.

You should follow this process, and keep these drivers updated whenever a new Edge Driver version gets released.
