Opkey Recorder Addon

Opkey Recorder is a Chrome Recorder extension for recording and playing back of test cases in web applications such as SAP, Salesforce, Oracle Fusion, Workday, etc. It simplifies test case creation by recording your actions while navigating the app.

Create test cases or reusable components

Capture and save your recordings from the web application as a test case or reusable component.


Record actions in two modes: normal and spy

Normal mode records all of your actions, while spy mode allows you to view the page hierarchy and object properties before recording an action.

View page hierarchy and object properties

Spy mode reveals page hierarchy and object properties in a web application. Useful for understanding the structure and selecting recording targets.


Add the desired action to the spied object as a test step

Identify objects, and add actions as test steps to the spied object.

View the recorded object, action, and data

Shows recorded objects, actions, and data at every step assisting in debugging and understanding test execution.

Add, delete, or move test steps as needed

Edit test steps during recording: add, delete, or reorder. Customize test cases to your requirement.


Pause or resume recording as needed

Pause/resume recording as required. Useful for breaks or targeting specific application sections.


Stop and save the recording actions along with the captured objects

Complete recording, stop session, save actions and objects. Generate new test cases or reusable components for testing, debugging, or training.


Integrating Opkey Recorder with the Chrome extension 


Begin recording of action on the web applications by integrating the Opkey Recorder with the Chrome extension. To do so:


Open the Chrome Web Store and search for the Opkey Recorder.

The following result gets displayed. 

        



Click Add extension button to proceed.

The Opkey Recorder extension gets integrated into the Chrome Browser successfully. 

Click the  Opkey Recorder extension button to launch it. The Opkey Recorder page opens. Enter your Opkey domain name and valid login credentials. Click on Login.

After successful login, a new window opens to begin recording.

Here, you need to select your project, and artifact, enter artifact name, and application URL.

To work on an existing Test Case or Function Library, select the ‘Record existing Test Case/Function Library’ radio button. It gets redirected to the Artifact page to select your desired artifact.

Your Test Case or Function Library and Object Repository gets created under the “Default_Opkey_Location” folder in Project Workspace. 

Click on the Start Recording button.

The Opkey Recorder page opens alongside the web application on Chrome Browser.

Select the recording mode from the recorder and begin recording.

Using the Spy mode of the recorder

The Spy mode of recording allows you to view object properties without fetching them. To do so, press the ALT button and hover the mouse on the specific object on the web application. View object properties as shown in the below image.

Use Capture Image to create a new object, and set respective Visual keyword for action.

Opkey Smart Image Snipper, page opens. There are a few buttons like crop, rotate the image left & right, undo, redo, abort and add an image to Opkey. Use these buttons to edit images.

Crop the image with the Crop button as shown in the image below.

Click Add Image to Opkey button. Add Image in Recorder Grid page opens.

Provide a Logical Name, select a Visual Keyword, and click on OK.

The object gets added to the list of test steps.

Once recording gets completed, switch to the Record mode and click Stop & Save button.

It saves all your recorded steps. View the recorded steps on the addon and also on the project workspace.
