Keyword Management

Keyword Management

Keyword management allows you to view the list of available custom keywords, add and manage libraries, add custom keywords, and modify the existing keywords.

Here's an enhanced description of the key functionalities:

1. Overview of Custom Keywords: Gain a comprehensive overview of all custom keywords created within your Opkey project. This centralized view provides easy access to the entire library of custom actions and functionalities.

2. Library Management: libraries: Efficiently organize custom keywords by creating and managing libraries. Libraries serve as containers for grouping related keywords, promoting a structured and easily navigable repository.

3. Adding Custom Keywords: Seamlessly extend the capabilities of your test automation suite by adding custom keywords tailored to specific test scenarios. Custom keywords encapsulate unique functionalities or sequences of actions, enhancing the reusability of test steps.

4. Modifying Existing Keywords: Maintain agility in your test automation framework by modifying existing keywords as per evolving requirements. Whether it's updating actions, refining logic, or enhancing functionality, Opkey enables straightforward modifications.

Let's have a look at how to create Custom Keywords on Opkey.

Click Keyword Management from the available options.

on the pop-up, the 'Manage Libraries' tab is selected by default.

Click the '+' icon to Upload .jar and .vbs files

Browse and select your .jar or .vbs file to be uploaded.

Note: The .jar/.vbs files contain the code for the specific custom keyword. To add a new custom keyword, you may need to upload more than one .jar or .vbs file.

A single uploaded .jar/.vbs file may contain code for more than one custom keyword, depending on the behavior of the custom keyword to be added.

Avoid using special characters such as !, -, _, ., *, ', (, and ) in the names of files to be uploaded in Keyword Management.

Additionally, refrain from using the following characters in file names:, {, Non-printable ASCII characters (128–255 decimal characters), ^, }, %, /, `, ], >, [, ~, <, #, |, and *.

Now, go to the Custom Keywords tab of the Keyword Management window and click on the '+' icon to Add a new keyword.

Developing custom keywords in Opkey implies establishing reusable actions or functions applicable across various test cases.

Click on Add New Custom Keyword button which opens a new table. Fill in all the required details (Name, Plugin, Associated Method, Output Type & Comment).

Click on the Add button to provide Input Argument Details (Name, Type, and description).
